Introduction 

 

Scaleup Flanders is organized by the Belgian technology federation Agoria, Vlerick Business School, and the collective center of the technological industry Sirris, hereinafter referred to as 'the partners of Scaleup Flanders.' This partnership is made possible with the support of VLAIO, the Flemish Agency for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, within the framework of the 'Entrepreneurship' mission awarded to the aforementioned partners. The aim of Scaleup Flanders is to develop and strengthen the growth and internationalization of Flemish scale-ups. 

For the partners of Scaleup Flanders, the trust of interested companies, entrepreneurs, and partners is of utmost importance to achieve their goal. Therefore, they are fully committed to processing and protecting personal data in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). 

This privacy statement explains who the data controllers and processors are, provides an overview of the types of data that are processed, for what purposes, to whom the data is disclosed, as well as your rights regarding your personal data. 

 Who is the Data Controller and Who is the Data Processor of Personal Data? 

According to the agreements between VLAIO and the partners of Scaleup Flanders, VLAIO is the 'data controller' within the meaning of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The partners of Scaleup Flanders process personal data on behalf of VLAIO and, in this respect, are the data processors within the meaning of the GDPR. 

 Since the partners of Scaleup Flanders may also process the data for purposes other than the VLAIO project, they are also to be considered as data controllers within the meaning of the GDPR. Rest assured, the partners will always process your data in line with your expectations, as you will be able to verify below. 

 What Data Does Scaleup Flanders Collect? 

 Scaleup Flanders only collects personal data that is necessary and relevant in the context of carrying out the VLAIO mission, specifically your name, the name of your organization, your position, email address, and possibly your phone number. 

 How Does Scaleup Flanders Collect Your Data? 

 The data we collect is usually provided directly by you to Scaleup Flanders, more specifically when you: 

  • Register online for one of our activities or services; 
  • Register online to receive our newsletter; 
  • Interact with us personally at our events. 

Scaleup Flanders may also receive your data indirectly through networking or its own contacts. 

 Purpose of Processing 

 The partners of Scaleup Flanders will collect and process your personal data for the following purposes: 

  • To carefully execute the services we offer as part of the VLAIO mission (sending invitations, tracking registrations, administration, reporting to VLAIO, etc.); In this context, we act as data processors on behalf of VLAIO; 
  • To send information and invitations concerning special offers, activities, services, or newsletters from each of the partners, which we believe may be of interest to you, always within the themes of Scaleup Flanders (see Marketing below). In this context, the partners act as data controllers. 

 How Long Do We Retain Your Personal Data in the Context of Scaleup Flanders? 

The partners of Scaleup Flanders will retain your personal data acquired as part of the VLAIO mission at least for the duration of the VLAIO project. 

 Even thereafter, the partners will retain relevant data as long as they believe they can offer you interesting and engaging activities, always in the interest of you and your business. You can, of course, unsubscribe at any time if you no longer wish to be contacted. 

 Transfer of Data to Third Parties 

 Scaleup Flanders transfers your personal data to VLAIO as the data controller within the meaning of the GDPR. 

 If you explicitly consent, Scaleup Flanders may share your data with its partners and/or sponsors, so they can offer you their products and services that we believe may be of interest to you, also always within the themes of Scaleup Flanders. 

 Marketing 

 Scaleup Flanders would like to send you information about products and services that we think may be of interest to you, both within the framework of the VLAIO mission and other activities and events. 

 You have the right to unsubscribe from the marketing communications of Scaleup Flanders at any time. 

 What Are Your Data Protection Rights? 

 Scaleup Flanders wants to ensure that you are fully aware of all your data protection rights. Every data subject has the following rights: 

  • The right of access – You have the right to request Scaleup Flanders for copies of your personal data that we hold about you. 
  • The right to rectification – You have the right to request that Scaleup Flanders correct any information you believe is inaccurate or complete any information you believe is incomplete. 
  • The right to erasure – You have the right to request that Scaleup Flanders erase your personal data, under certain legal conditions. 
  • The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that Scaleup Flanders restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions. 
  • The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to Scaleup Flanders' processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
